EIKOSI DYO

Poetic fine jewellery by Melanie Nydegger

A love story with Greece that dates back to childhood. The desire to draw from the reunion with this land set in such particular light and unique colors, the aridity of the wild islands and the beauty of the sea create an alloy of precious purity, raw simplicity and feelings of protection.

The jewellery Melanie creates is beautifully made by hand in Athens, respecting the traditional Greek techniques and releasing this unique and original aspect that makes its grace.

She draws her inspiration from Mediterranean culture, nature, mythology and lucky charm symbols by reinterpreting their design codes into this delicate and refined jewellery that connects to the skin, like an extension of one’s self. The aerial shapes drawing femininity and simplicity unite gold in 14 or 18 carat and sometimes set with precious and semi-precious gemstones selected by Melanie herself. She has always been passionate about gemology and believes in the magical and mystical energy of stones.

Inspired by travel, the evolution of Eikosi Dyo will naturally turn towards other countries and cultures, but gold and Greek culture will always remain at the heart of the designs.

Designer

Melanie Nydegger left her native Switzerland and settled in Paris, where she studied dramatic arts. After performing in front of the camera and onstage, she turned towards fashion, looking once more for a new experience. She had been a fashion editor for almost 10 years before launching her fine jewellery brand in 2013.

As a self-taught quick learner, she immersed herself in the techniques of jewellery
making and learned everything she needed to know from a skilled jeweller and mentor to enthusiastically embark on an wonderful adventure which she now calls ‘eikosi dyo’, meaning ‘twenty two’ in Greek, ‘the day everything changed’ for her.

Melanie shares her time between Athens and Paris, bringing the lightness of Greek spirit to the sophisticated fashion capital.
